I have been taking part in sports since school. Track and field, cricket, football.  After school I continued to play football, I played for Middlesex league as a midfield player with Constantine united football club. At the age of 17, I was introduced to Kung fu and began my training with Whu Shu Kwan in London, where I achieved the rank of the 1st-degree black sash (black belt). After combining martial arts and football for years, I achieved my 2nd black sash in Shaolin kung fu. Also, I competed in Kokshenki karate tournaments in London.

Full contact kickboxing being a new sport in the 1980s my club began to train and compete, and I was ranked 3rd in Great Britain, in the light-middleweight division. Also, I represented Scotland in one of the first European championships held in London. 

I finished playing football in 1984 and continued with martial arts. At the age of 19, I began my coaching career. It started with Shaolin kung fu with one of my training groups in London and in 1989 I was invited to come help coach here in Finland. As the second head coach of SSKF ry ( Suomen shaolin kung fu ry) I coached kung fu, kickboxing, Chinese arts of sanda, kali excrema Filipino martial arts.

Later on, I became interested in the gym. I studied to become a trainer and graduated with a lop diploma. Soon after I developed a training form, called Combat fitness boxing, I was invited to teach classes in gyms around Espoo and Helsinki. 

In 2013 I was given the chance to move back into football, where I work with kids of all ages and received a Coach of the year award in 2017, from my club FC Espoo kasiysi ry.


I continue working with football and mix all my experience in sports into my training. I look for what can be done to improve and develop in speed and strength, and the urge to be better at whatever sport you do.

  1. Equipment used in our training is a reactive stretch cord with a belt, plus speed and strength leg resistant band, victory rope for strength conditioning, agility ladder, plyometric jump stool.
